About the tool

Excel Consolidator is an MS Excel based tool which can be used to consolidate data from multiple Excel Files or Excel Sheets. The tool supports multiple configurations such as Sheet Name, Sheet Index, Header Row and Non-Blank column to help consolidating accurate data.

System Requirements

  1. You need to have installed version of MS Excel 2010 or above

Tool Limitations

  1. As the files increases, tool may take more time to consolidate data
  2. All Files or Sheets should be in similar format and column sequence for accuracy
  3. If the data contains formulas, then tool will first copy the data and convert it into values

How to use this tool

  1. Open the tool and you will see below screen

  2. If the macros are disabled, click on Enable Content button

Consolidate Excel Files from a Folder and Sub-Folders
  1. To consolidate Excel files from a Folder and Sub-Folders, select “Consolidate Files from a Folder” radio button

  2. If you want to consolidate the files from the Sub-Folders as well then select “Include Sub-Folders” checkbox

  3. Click on “Browse” button and select the folder where your files as saved

  4. Select the sheet which needs to be consolidated

    Active Sheet: Tool will consolidate data from the active sheet of each file. The sheet which is visible when you open a file is called active sheet.

    Sheet by Index: Tool will consolidate data from the sheet based on index position from the left. If you select this option then you need to specify the index position as well

    Sheet by Name: Tool will consolidate data from the sheet based on sheet name. If you select this option then you need to specify the sheet name as well

  5. Select or type the row number which needs to be used as header

  6. If your data contain any non-blank column then select the checkbox and column name. Note that it is optional feature which helps to improve accuracy in data consolidation. If your data does not contain any non-blank column then leave the checkbox as un-checked

  7. Now tool is ready to consolidate the data. Click on “Start Consolidation” button

  8. Tool will start consolidating the data and show the progress on status bar. If you want to stop the tool in-between then click on “Cancel” button

  9. Once done, you will receive confirmation message as below

  10. Data is consolidated and available in “Consolidation” sheet

  11. You can refer “Logs” sheet to check file wise summary of consolidation

Consolidate Sheets from an Excel File
  1. If you have an Excel file with multiple sheets which you want to consolidate into one sheet then click on “Consolidate Sheets from an Excel File”

  2. Click on “Browse” button and select the Excel file which needs to be consolidated

  3. Select or type the row number which needs to be used as header

  4. If your data contain any non-blank column then select the checkbox and column name. Note that it is optional feature which helps to improve accuracy in data consolidation. If your data does not contain any non-blank column then leave the checkbox as un-checked.

  5. Now click on “Start Consolidation” button

  6. Tool will now start consolidating the data. Once done you will receive confirmation message as below

  7. Data is consolidated and available in “Consolidation” sheet
